La Cantina is an outdoor Mexican style pub, situated in Circular Drive, Port Elizabeth. La Cantina is and always will be a favourite for me without hesitation. Due to the fun fact that my Birthday is literally 2 days after New Years day I was in search of a relaxed comfortable setting where a few of us could gather in celebration of me aging. Without a doubt I chose to celebrate my evening in the La Cantina Stable.
Delightful Mexican food truck and speciality drinks makes for an unforgettable experience!
The La Cantina Stable is a sheltered sectioned off area that you are able to book for your special occasion, year end or event. The Mexican themed decor is charming and inviting, creating a vibe for fun and festivities.
Offering a choice of seating options from bar stools, comfortably cushioned low rise wooden seats with coffee tables to a centered dining room table and chairs as well as a beer pong table. All nestled perfectly within the stable. A central fire place creates the perfect ambience, setting the perfect feel for the evening.
Sipping on our delightful drinks, chatting amongst ourselves around the table, enjoying the celebrations and feel of this gem of a place I realised I couldn’t have chosen better. When it came to our meal orders we all opted for their legendary Tacos, no surprise there! The food, absolutely mouth-watering every time, perfectly proportioned and always flavoursome.
La Cantina also now has a fantastic muso line up, offering live music by local talent on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Another must to mention is Margarita Pink Paloma specials on Thursdays for Ladies Night as well as their Saturday draught specials.
The absolute authenticity about this venue is that they not only do they offer mouth watering food, a variety of local and lekker beverages, service with a smile and a fabulous vibe but the owners Sarah and Manny are very hands on.
La Cantina transports you to a place where Mexican cuisine is the order of the day, a variety of local brews and margaritas flow and music fills the evening skies. Within the main venue La Cantina offers a variety of seating spaces to comfortably nestle into for the evening, whether it be for a quiet meal amongst friends or with the family, or just a catch up and a few cold ones.
However Manny’s tacos are a must, every time. The main section of the venue is open air but offers shelter from all the elements come rain, wind or shine. The menu is simple, short and sweet, Tacos, Quesadillas or Nachos, Mexican food with a twist of South African flair.
For a fun and informal pub and Mexican food experience we can highly recommend this wonderful gem!
