Nestled in the stunning landscape at the foothills of Lady’s Slipper Mountain on the outskirts of Gqeberha, lies Krantzkloof Guest Farm. A mere 30-minute drive from the city center, the Guest Farm is more than just a getaway; it’s a heartfelt family venture, spearheaded by Tertia, who has woven her childhood memories and passion for design into this thriving space.
Born in Nelspruit and raised in Ermelo, Tertia’s journey has brought her, and most of her family to settle in the Eastern Cape and make their dream a reality. They are excited to share this unique experience with others.
A Family Legacy and New Beginnings
Tertia’s parents, retired cattle farmers, have traded their farming life for a new chapter in Gqeberha. Their decision to retire near the city was influenced not only by nostalgia—her father’s deep ties to the Eastern Cape—but also by family connections, especially the arrival of their grandson.
Tertia has been instrumental in gradually bringing her family to the farm, encouraging her brother to join in 2018 and working on getting her sister to move down soon!
The ethos behind Krantzkloof Guest Farm is centered on creating a space for families to reconnect and enjoy quality time together. As Tertia puts it, “Our target market is families who still want to enjoy a holiday together.” With a prime location just a stone’s throw from Gqeberha, the farm offers a perfect weekend escape for locals and tourists alike.
Adventure Awaits
Krantzkloof Guest Farm is not just a campsite; it’s a burgeoning holiday resort with an array of activities that cater to everyone’s tastes. From mountain hiking to a massive swimming pool currently under construction, the options and potential are endless.
Future plans include wooden cabins, glamping tents nestled in the mountains, and even a zip line for the adventurous spirit. A function hall is available for parties, year-end functions, and weddings, complete with a charming and rustic little chapel.
A Hands-On Approach to Hospitality
Tertia’s background as an interior designer shines through in her meticulous approach to creating an inviting atmosphere at the farm. “Once a creator, always a creator,” she says, highlighting her passion for hands-on work. Her first project after moving to the farm was rebuilding the bar, a testament to her dedication and craft.
As a potter, she envisions incorporating pottery experiences for guests, allowing them to select and paint their pieces while enjoying a drink on the new grass porch.
A Warm Welcome Awaits
The guest farm is open daily, welcoming visitors from 8 AM until 5 PM during weekdays, and operating later on weekends for those wanting to unwind at the bar.
Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, Krantzkloof Guest Farm is committed to creating unforgettable memories for you and your families.
With stunning mountain views and a commitment to family fun, Krantzkloof Guest Farm is poised to become a beloved destination in the Eastern Cape.
As Tertia and her family continue to expand and enhance offerings, guests can look forward to a unique blend of adventure, fun, relaxation, creativity, and family togetherness.
